In a sea of boring crossovers that Americans flock to, one standouts amongst the crowd. That vehicle would be the 2020 KIA Telluride as it combines excellent styling, superb interior build quality for the price, and a very impressive 5yr / 60,000-mile bumper to bumper warranty.
Having visited the KIA manufacturing facility in Georgia, I got to see first hand how much attention they pay to quality. In fact, every vehicle that comes off the line gets a quick test drive to ensure everything is working correctly and that it lives up to KIA’s high build quality standards.
It shows too. When you slip into the driver’s seat and touch the door panels, switches, and dashboard, you can tell Kia went above and beyond when it comes to interior quality.
Even the base LX model comes with standard blind-spot detection and emergency braking, two essential safety features. There are four different trim levels available, LX (31,890), S ($35,460), EX ($38,460), and SX ($42,960, all trim levels are equipped with the same 3.8L V6 making 291-HP. As you climb the trim level ladder, you get more creature comforts, additional tech, and more luxurious trim, such as leather seats.
The Telluride offers a quiet, competent ride, but lacks steering feel and adequate power. While most Telluride buyers won’t be interested in 0-60 times, the fact remains the Telluride is a bit of a slouch, especially on the freeway when trying to pass at speed. Additionally, the lack of power makes it difficult for the transmission to stay in one gear going up a grade on the highway, continually shifting between 7th and 8th, which drivers will find annoying.
I wouldn’t say the lack of power is a dealbreaker, but there are other vehicles like the Chevy Traverse and Ford Explorer, which offer slightly better driving dynamics.
One look at the Telluride, and you know it’s a showstopper. Easily the best looking vehicle in its class. The shape of the vehicle is very appealing, as are the vertical LED headlights, which are blended flawlessly into the front side panels giving the Telluride a commanding appearance.
The best looking model is the fully-loaded SX trim, which has an option for 20″ black wheels, then choose the Dark Moss paint color, and you’ll be the best looking SUV at soccer practice by far!
The Telluride offers a level of refinement, interior quality, and value, which others in the segment can’t match, which is why the Telluride has won many awards, such as Motor Trend’s SUV of the year. If you’re looking for something that can comfortably haul the kiddos around without breaking the bank, then you must take a close look at the 2020 KIA Telluride.
